Here are ten things:
- Refried beans: Authentic refried beans are not to be found in Oklahoma City…yet. We are still hunting. I want refried beans from Gilberts!
- Gridlock – won’t miss it.
- Ocean – If you need the ocean, California has it, and Oklahoma doesn’t have it. Oklahoma has open prairies, lakes, and a vast blue sky.
- Weather – If you are looking for a consistent 75 degrees, you must live in Santa Monica, CA. If you want a change of season, tornados, ice storms, and watching storm trackers during April and May, Oklahoma is for you!
- Access to many areas – In Oklahoma, you can’t drive north to Santa Barbara, San Luis, or San Francisco and see the beach and central coast at the drop of a hat. Or Mammoth. There are options in Oklahoma. You need to be creative.
- Pace of Life – If you like hurried and frantic, California is an excellent choice.
- Density – If you like crowded and angry, California is an excellent choice.
- The Apple Pan – You can’t replicate The Apple Pan. You will miss it if you have been a patron for many years. Long live the hickory burger with cheese and fries well done.
- Sports – Thunder basketball, Dodgers AAA, and OU vs. OSU. That’s it for sports in Oklahoma. I’ll take bedlam anytime!
- Your friends – You can’t replace lifelong friends. Or guarantee you’ll make new ones. But Oklahoma has its arms wide open!
